The Role

Term time only (39 weeks) (8.30am-4.00pm)

We are looking for an Assistant Head of Care to join our supportive, enthusiastic and committed team.  You will be working under the direction of the Head of Care and School Operations to provide support with regard to the welfare of pupils, support to staff at Greenmead, including liaising with staff, agencies and other professionals to maintain a high-quality environment for our pupils.  You’ll also be a part of the school’s Manual Handling team carrying out training, risk assessments and problem solving with therapists and class teams.

A commitment to Greenmead pupils and their complex needs is essential, plus the ability to work as part of a team and be flexible and support other colleagues.  Greenmead is an Outstanding (November 2021) primary school for pupils aged 2 – 11 years who have severe physical disabilities and associated communication and learning problems. Many of the pupils have additional medical needs.

You should be friendly and approachable as you’ll be liaising with parents, pupils and a multi-agency team and leading on training both in school and as part of our outreach offer to other schools.   You should have good communication skills and be able to problem solve and be solution focused.  You will need to have good time management skills and able to manage your work priorities.  You should also have good IT skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Email) and good numeracy and literacy skills. 

You will receive training to support you in your role and to further develop your professional expertise.  You will be trained to be as a Designated Safeguarding Lead and will be one of the Deputy Safeguarding Leads.
