Children's Social Worker/Senior Social Worker (0-25 Children with Disability Team)

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

The Role

Do you want to work in a supportive and collaborative team?

Are you passionate about promoting equality and independence for disabled children, young people and their families?

Would you relish the unique opportunity to work across children’s and adults’ services (up to 25) with young people with disabilities to achieve their full potential in adulthood?

If yes, we have the perfect role for you!

We are looking for a social worker or senior social worker to join our 0-25 Disability Service and play a central role in delivering high-quality and responsive social work across children’s and adults’ services (up to 25).

It’s a role to assess, plan and review disabled children and young people for short breaks, wellbeing and safeguarding purposes under the Children’s and Care act. The role will see you work collaboratively with allied health and social care practitioners, bringing together and coordinating the team around the child to ensure a multi-disciplinary approach to safeguarding, as well as Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Review (APIR).

You’ll act as the lead professional in statutory cases - including child protection, care proceedings, looked-after children, Transition (Care Act 2014) assessments and support planning, mental capacity work and safeguarding adults - while undertaking the full range of social work tasks with disabled children, young people and their families.  Full training will be supplied if you do not have experience in either children's or adults social work.

Ideally the successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of working in both adults and children’s legislation. However, this is not essential and full training will be provided on areas that you’re not a specialist in.

To be shortlisted to interview for this position your CV and personal statement will clearly evidence:

  • A relevant social work qualification and HCPC membership
  • Passed your ASYE year
  • Creative planning & Assessment skills
  • Experience of working across voluntary and statutory agencies
  • A excellent communicator
  • Understand the needs of children and young people
  • Applied knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance
