Estate Manager

The Role

Wandsworth and Richmond’s housing management division has a well-earned reputation for high quality and innovative services efficiently provided to our tenants and leaseholders by a dedicated team of staff. A number of opportunities have arisen within the central, eastern, and southern teams, based at 90 Putney Bridge Road, SW18 1HR.  

You do not need direct experience of estate management but should have an interest in social housing and the ability to work within a busy team.

Some of the duties of the post include;

  • As the front-line manager of up to 1100 properties, being the main point of contact between your residents and the council. You will need to demonstrate that you can prioritise a heavy workload and develop constructive relationships with residents.
  • Being responsible to the Area Housing Manager through the Senior Estate Manager for the day to day management and routine repair of a group of dwellings within the Area
  • Being conversant with current legislation relating to generic housing management matters, incorporating changes as they occur, imparting the information to tenants, residents and leaseholders as required.
  • Transfers tenancies, drafting committee reports, . Investigates non-routine cases, liaising with solicitors, social workers, etc., and where appropriate drafts committee reports.
  • Being responsible for accompanied viewings and signing of new tenancies ensuring all necessary documentation and records are produced. Advising  new tenants of the provisions of the tenancy agreement, local facilities and the proper use of appliances and installations.
  • Visiting and reporting on dwellings occupied by families with social difficulties. Liaising  with Social Services, Health Visitors, Environmental Services Officers, Police etc. Arranging  and attending case conferences in connection with such families.
