Trainee Sign Shop Technician

Wandsworth is a busy and diverse inner London borough which is growing rapidly with a mobile and demanding population. The Highways Sign Shop section requires a Trainee Sign Shop Technician within its busy shop, to carry out all duties associated with the manufacture of signage, for the use on the public highway along with various other areas.

They are a forward-thinking team who are supportive of each other both personally and professionally.

You will:

  • Learn to produce and fabricate signs and other traffic related products using the correct materials.
  • Contribute to a strong and highly valued Sign Shop Service with the fabrication of signs and installation.
  • Maintain records of completed works and accurately record any amendments. 
  • Use electrical and mechanical tools and plant to cut, shape and assemble signs.

About you:

  • You will be reliable and flexible in work approach, able to listen and follow instructions.
  • You will be willing to learn working in a busy sign shop environment.
  • You will be able to work without supervision or part of a team and carry out heavy manual tasks involving lifting, handling materials and equipment.
  • You will be computer literate, and able to use computer programmes proficiently and input data accurately.
  • A driving licence would be an advantage.
  • You will be willing to ride an electric bike around the Borough installing Posters

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the skills associated with this role including the use of computer programs. Please note that there will be a practical evaluation as part of the interview process.
