Social Worker

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join our fast paced, dynamic and evolving social work locality team based in Wandsworth working with adults with disabilities, age-related impairments and adults at risk. Our work also includes providing Care Act assessments to prisoners in HMP Wandsworth.

The London Boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworth present a unique opportunity to be part of a team who work together in a shared staffing structure across both boroughs. In order to ensure the service promotes independence in line with the Richmond and Wandsworth's values and behaviours. The role will require that the candidate has a relevant qualification in Social work as well as being HCPC registered.

The team takes a multi-agency approach, working alongside health colleagues, and other professional agencies. The work within the team is varied, which includes complex care management, with a strong focus on wellbeing, keeping people in the community, and providing direct payments to increase individuals’ control over their own care.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide Case/Care management.
  • Undertake effective assessments of the individual/carers needs and risks to encourage independence, provide support and prevent harm, by promoting their well-being in accordance with the Care Act 2014
  • To undertake statutory interventions where service users are deemed to be at risk, including situations where people may be neglected or abused in accordance with the Inter-Agency Policy and Procedures for Safeguarding Adults.
  • Completion of Mental Capacity assessments and CHC assessments, in accordance with current legislation.
  • Have at least 2 years post qualification experience, including successful completion of the ASYE course.

This is a busy team with a fast throughput of work, therefore excellent time management skills and the ability to manage your own caseload is essential.

The selection process will include an interview and a written test.
