Are you a confident, computer literate team player who can support with administrative duties across community learning, accredited learning, and work experience programmes?

Wandsworth Council Lifelong Learning (WCLL) delivers a number of programmes aimed at improving the lives of Wandsworth residents. As part of this team, you will be contributing to the continuous improvement of the Boroughs of Wandsworth and Richmond services. You will be working towards your Level 3 Business Administration Standard whilst providing a high quality of customer service and administrative work across our community and adult learning, accredited learning and work experience programmes. 

About the role 

As an Administration Assistant Apprentice, you will demonstrate excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff across the service. 

Some of the responsibilities of the role will be providing administrative support, assisting on projects and marketing activities, using various Microsoft Office applications and other bespoke databases to input, maintain and monitor information and records, organising meetings, filing, assisting learners with enrolment at various sites across the Borough, assisting with setting up of training sessions, and attendance and support at events.  

In this unique role, you will gain further skills, knowledge and behaviours. You will be expected to attend all workshops provided by the training provider and attend all mandatory training set by the Council.

This Apprenticeship will work towards gaining a recognised Business Administration Level 3 Standard qualification.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Previous administration/reception work experience.
  • An understanding of the importance of equality and diversity and health and safety in the workplace.  
  • Basic keyboard skills, use of Microsoft Office, email & Outlook Calendar and the internet.
  • Excellent standards of English spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to take and give simple messages, to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a range of people and to take down telephone messages clearly and accurately. 
  • Good interpersonal skills and proven experience of dealing effectively, politely and diplomatically with people, both face-to-face and on the telephone.   
  • Ability to work flexibly and co-operatively with colleagues in a team, asking for and giving support as needed.
  • Ability to manage own tasks and workload. 
  • Have English and Maths Level 2 or equivalent.

All of these skills will be developed during the apprenticeship.

Test/Presentation: Short written communication test which will be sent to candidates to complete prior to interview. Prior to interview an initial assessment in Maths and English (irrelevant of current qualifications) will need to be completed.
