Analyst Support Officer

The Role

This role is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative problem solver who wants to begin an exciting career in data analysis. This post is idea for someone with a head for numbers who is looking to begin or switch into a career in data analysis.

The post holder will be offered structured on the job training to become a skilled data analyst. Recent graduates welcome to apply.

The postholder will make an impact in a large organisation that serves two London boroughs with diverse communities with varied needs. Using internal and external sources and public data, you will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of analytical and strategic projects, with significant organisational and social impact.

The postholder will be working closely and supporting the work of intelligence analysts and data scientists by extracting, cleaning, and summarising data. The postholder will also be writing reports, maintaining, and updating analytical products and responding to requests for data and information. The postholder support the delivery of Insight and Analytics Team’s work plan and contribute towards advancing data and analytics across the SSA.

Insight and analytics is seen as playing an important role going forward across both councils. The postholder will be part of this work and there is possibility for future growth opportunities.

The Role

You will be joining the corporate Insight and Analytics Team that supports departments and projects across Richmond and Wandsworth Councils.  The team works with various local third sector and health and social care partners.

Team’s vision is to enable Richmond and Wandsworth Councils leaders and colleagues to make informed decisions and implement transformative and innovative ways of working by providing insightful analyses and innovative data solutions to deliver high-quality services for residents.

Your role

  • Demonstrate curiosity and apply an analytical mindset when approaching analytical problems.
  • Provide analytics support towards products such as annual reports, needs assessments, strategic assessments, service reviews etc.
  • Demonstrate an eagerness to learn and develop
  • Extract, collate, summarise data and develop dashboards and reports that are timely and accurate.
  • Clean, manipulate and link various types of data  
  • Summarise and present data and conclusions in the most appropriate format for users

Your skills

  • Keen to progress and develop new skills 
  • Inquisitive
  • Good communications skills, both written and verbal, and be able to maintain effective working relationships across the council and with partner organisations
  • Highly numerate
  • Ability to clean, analyse, summarise, and manage data
  • Advance MS Excel Skills
  • Work effectively as part of a team and able to carry out work independently

Current Post

Current role is a fixed term post for 18 months
