Job Title: Application Specialist – Social Care

Salary Range: £36,426 - £52,632 per annum  

Permanent – Fulltime

Location: Fairfield Annexe, Wandsworth High Street, London, SW18 2PU

Objective of role

Join our Corporate IT (CIT) team and be a part of maintaining, supporting, and developing key IT systems for Richmond and Wandsworth Councils. As a Social Care Application Specialist, your role is crucial in ensuring we deliver high quality services to our residents and staff.

You’ll be responsible for:

Ongoing application development, maintenance, and system configuration.

Supporting for key systems: Including Access Group’s Mosaic, CorePlus, Synergy, and CACI Nexus.

Working with colleagues in CIT to make sure the appropriate technical input / advice is provided to the development and support of our applications. 

Managing upgrades and interfaces: Assisting with application upgrades and interfaces with other business areas.

Work closely with expert users and other subject matter experts within business areas to enhance and develop applications.

You should possess technical knowledge of SQL (preferably SQL Server), experience in developing system functionality and reporting packages like PowerBI, and the ability to interpret and manipulate data. Familiarity with the frameworks that support local government in the social care sector is an added advantage.

About the role specific duties

Provide advanced development and support for complex user issues (second-line and beyond) for designated business applications. Liaise with specialists in other areas to gain expertise and ensure backup support and resilience.

Collaborate with other CIT teams to provide essential IT input and advice for developing and supporting designated applications.

Help develop and maintain prioritized work plans for major IT projects and maintenance activities.

Work with expert users and subject matter experts to develop and document business processes, ensuring clarity and formal acceptance of requirements.

Support departmental training sections in keeping courses and materials for line-of-business applications up to date with current production releases.

Participate in application implementation or enhancement projects, providing advice and guidance on requirement specifications

Assist in developing and managing Managed Service Agreements for supported applications. Ensure input from current providers for new functionality, effective support, and issue resolution.

Stay informed about legislative, technical and security requirements for application business areas. Maintain up-to-date business knowledge, technical skills, and market intelligence for relevant applications.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Qualifications 

Educated to ‘A’ Level standard or equivalent 

Prince 2 or ITIL or other accredited qualification

Skills

Social skills to develop and maintain good working relationships. 

Presentation and persuasion skills with the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. 

Business analysis and planning 

Experience

Demonstrable experience of application development lifecycles and change control. 

Broad knowledge of IT topics with good all-round IT Literacy 

Demonstrable understanding of the business environment supported by the chosen applications. 

Demonstrable track record of recent experience and specialist knowledge in the Council’s chosen applications within the designated business area(s) 

Demonstrable appreciation of customer care principles along with an understanding of ITIL
