Objective of role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Executive Assistant to join the Executive Support Hub within the Department of Adult Social Care and Public Health.
The hub plays a key role in supporting the Executive Director and the Senior Management Team across Richmond and Wandsworth councils, ensuring the smooth and effective running of the service.
In this role, you will report to the Senior Executive Assistant Officer and work as part of a supportive and collaborative team. You will provide high‑quality administrative support to several Directors and the Executive Director across two office locations. This position is ideal for someone who is eager to develop strong organisational and administrative skills while contributing to an essential service.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will work closely with colleagues at all levels across the Councils, as well as elected Members, partner organisations, and members of the public. You will gain hands‑on experience in a wide range of Executive Assistant duties, including:
- Managing busy and complex diaries
- Supporting Board and Senior Management Team meetings
- Handling confidential and sensitive information
- Taking and redirecting calls appropriately
- Supporting a variety of departmental projects
You will receive training in key areas such as written communication, minute‑taking, and the effective use of digital tools and systems. We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised, and able to work accurately within agreed timescales in a fast‑paced environment.
Being a strong team player is essential. The Executive Support Hub works closely across both sites, supporting one another to deliver an excellent service to the Senior Management Team and the wider organisation.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Ability to meet the entry requirements of the level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship, including regular tutorials and tasks required to complete the qualification.
- English and Maths at Grade 4 and above or the equivalent
- Ability to communicate and to present information clearly and concisely both verbal and written, with good attention to detail
- Good IT skills and ability to learn new systems
