Art & Design Teacher - Southfields Academy

Term Time Only
Fixed Term from January 2022 until the end of Summer Term 2022, Possibility to extend by mutual agreement.

Who we are:

At Key Stage 3 we take a holistic perspective on Art, Design & Technology as we believe that all of the strands complement each other in some way which ultimately makes our students better designers.

Subjects within Art, Design & Technology are very popular at Key Stage 4 and are becoming increasingly popular at Key Stage 5, with a number of students going on to study various design subjects at some of the country’s top universities and art schools.

The department prides itself on its innovation and excellence in moving practice on to support student development and are looking for a candidate who is willing to contribute to this evolution.

Southfields Academy offers a comprehensive and well thought of support programme for Early Career Teachers led by Senior Staff and Lead Practitioners.

Southfields Academy is a thriving non-selective secondary academy located in south west London, with excellent facilities and set in attractive grounds.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for someone who shares a passion and love for Art and the creative subjects who will strive for the best for our students. You will be able to teach Art & Design across media up to Key Stage 5 and have the expertise and skills to enable students to use the wide range of media available to them, to express their artistic and creative talents. These would include, painting and drawing, sculpture, 3D work, computer based design and multi-media.

Students currently follow the OCR GCSE course in Art in Key Stage 4, the OCR Cambridge Technical Certificate in Art & Design Level 2 and Level 3 with a focus on Fine Art in Key Stage 5. These courses require excellent subject knowledge as context and situation play an integral role in Art & Design and its place in the world.
