Arts Officer - Exhibitions & Collections

Who we are?

Our mission is to build community through creativity. We foster creativity and enjoyment of the arts, enable people to reflect on their lives and develop new ways of seeing the world. We bring experimental art to the borough and cultivate a network of individuals, organisations and programmes that nourishes the arts, local organisations and communities.

Based at Orleans House Gallery on Twickenham Riverside, the team develops and facilitates a programme of high quality and accessible arts events, festivals and exhibitions for residents and visitors across Richmond Upon Thames and online.

Orleans House Gallery exhibits a range of contemporary artists’ work; recent examples include Himali Singh SoinDexter McLeanSomething & Son, and Phoebe Boswell; as well as artists living and working within the borough.

You will

  • Support the development of our public facing programmes, through direct project delivery and by commissioning, contracting and partnering with arts organisations and artists.
  • Deliver a range of cultural activities, including producing exhibitions. In 2022 our Arts Officers produced Lines of Dissent; our Emerging Artists programme; and our Cultural Reforesting programme, exploring how our relationship with nature can evolve to meet the challenges of the 21st century. 
  • Produce marketing and communications campaigns and create content to ensure services reach the relevant audiences and influencers.
  • Manage budgets and financial targets including fundraising for programmes.
  • Support with the management of the Richmond Borough Art Collection.

About you

  • You will have experience producing public-facing creative participation programmes.
  • You will be experienced in working with artists and creative exhibition production.
  • You are confident planning marketing campaigns and creating digital content, including for social media.
  • You can forward plan and manage risk. 
  • You communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide range of individuals.
  • You can work independently using your initiative and as an effective team member.
  • You are happy to adapt to changing priorities, contexts and deadlines.
