Benefit Visiting Officer

The Role

We are looking for a unique individual who enjoys supporting Wandsworth’s more vulnerable customers in their claims for Housing Benefits and Council Tax Reduction.

You will be visiting people in their own homes to complete forms or gain further information to aid calculation of benefits, therefore previous experience of working in Customer Services is essential.

The successful candidate will need:

  • To have a positive attitude and be flexible
  • Knowledge of Housing Benefits and Council Tax Reduction
  • Understanding of other Welfare Benefits
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Be a confident lone worker
  • To work closely with colleagues as a part of a small team

This is a fixed term part time role for 12 months, the hours can be flexible depending on the suitable candidate, though the minimum commitment would be 14.4 hours per week. Visits will be conducted during normal office hours of 9am to 5pm. This role is also open to all staff currently working for Richmond and Wandsworth Councils as a secondment opportunity.
