Benefits Officer

The Role

Are you an experienced Benefits officer looking to join a dynamic team of assessment officers to provide an excellent service to Wandsworth and Richmond’s benefit claimants?  

 

Due to recent vacancies, we are looking for experienced Benefit Officers to join our team.  The team is based in the Civic Centre in Twickenham and all staff work on both borough’s cases and all types of work.

 

The successful candidates will need to:

  • Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction legislation, and other associated welfare benefits,
  • Be able to accurately assess entitlement to Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction, using Benefits IT systems

 

  • Experience of delivering an excellent service to customers, their representatives and stakeholders face to face and by telephone to assess or review entitlement,

 

  • Provide clear and concise written and verbal explanations of complex benefit calculations and regulations including overpayments,
  • Have a positive attitude, be flexible, and enjoy working apart of a team.

There will be occasional working from the office when required for customer services duties and meetings.
