The Role

Bigger scope and greater value: discover procurement on a different scale.

Boost your expertise within our ground-breaking shared staffing structure. Join the team working with the London boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworth’s Shared Procurement Service. As a Category Manager, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to increase your skills and experience, as you tackle procurement with expanded value and scope. What’s more, it comes with good work-life balance plus the chance to build your career.

Working with our dedicated procurement professionals, you’ll strive to achieve good value and quality services for over half a million Londoners. With the chance to leverage the combined buying power of two different councils, you’ll have more sway in contract negotiations.

Joining one of three category teams (Social Care, Environmental Services or Corporate Services), you’ll support the Head of Procurement by researching, analysing and developing category action plans for your specific area and category. You’ll also manage associated transactional procurement activity day to day, leading a dedicated team.  And we’ll be looking to you to support the development of strategic relationships with key suppliers too. By building close links with these key partners, you’ll deliver cashable savings and service improvements.

MCIPS-qualified (or equivalent level of experience), you’ll be up to speed with public sector best practice and current Procurement law. You bring solid experience and a tenacious approach, plus the ability to manage high-performing teams. With this expertise, you’ll be a capable professional, with the confidence and credibility to challenge established ways of working.

In return, you’ll have the opportunity to join a results-focused team, which offers varied and interesting projects, flexible working hours and great progression prospects. There’s also an excellent benefits package, which includes 31 days’ annual leave and a local government pension.
