Commissioning Manager- Learning Disabilities

The Role

Richmond and Wandsworth Councils have an exciting opportunity to join the Learning Disabilities Commissioning Team in the Adult Social Care and Public Health Directorate. We are seeking a Commissioning Manager (Learning Disabilities) who is passionate about improving the opportunities and lives of people with learning disabilities. Working in a creative, engaged and outcomes-focused team you will deliver a range of projects across different stages of the commissioning cycle. 

In the role you will:

  • Work with a range of internal and external stakeholders to shape and deliver local priorities as set out in the Wandsworth Learning Disability Strategy and Richmond Learning Disability Strategy “Our Big Plan” 2015 to 2020 (being updated)
  • Ensure that the services we commission are high quality, effective, demonstrate value for money and enable us to meet the requirements of the Care Act 2014
  • Resolve complex problems creatively and manage change projects
  • Facilitate the co-design of innovative new service models and shaping of the local provider market in a way that promotes the independence, choice, health and wellbeing of the local population through strengths-bases approaches.
  • Procure and contract manage a number of services which support people with a learning disability

We are seeking individuals with strong communication and presentation skills, who enjoy working with people and are able to lead and inspire others.  You will be proactive and highly organised as you will manage multiple strands of work simultaneously across a variety of activities and projects. 

You will have in have an interest and some experience of supporting people with learning disability/ autism and the governments agenda in relation to these areas.  You will be familiar with the principles of the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
