Commissioning Officer – Service Development

About Us

When the London Boroughs of Richmond Upon Thames and Wandsworth joined forces (Better Service Partnership) to co-commission the best possible Adult Social Care Services, we did so with a clear idea - to provide high calibre, value-for-money services for our local communities. Learning from best practice in both of our boroughs and elsewhere, we are working closely with the NHS and community partners to establish an integrated approach, delivered primarily by local voluntary and community sector organisations and actively engaging our local communities.  Our ambition is that older people and/or other adults at risk of poor/deteriorating wellbeing, as well as their unpaid carers, are supported more effectively than ever before to maintain their health and wellbeing, thereby preventing, delaying or reducing their need for care services.

About the role 

In light of our ageing population and increasing pressures on health and social care services, preventative programs are a vital element of our wider commissioning strategy. Working in partnership with service users, voluntary sector organisations, health services and colleagues in public health and operations, you will help shape and monitor preventative services to improve the health and wellbeing of older people, other adults at risk of poor/deteriorating wellbeing and unpaid carers in the London Boroughs of Richmond-upon-Thames and Wandsworth.  

You will draw upon your knowledge of prevention and voluntary sector provision to assist in the commissioning of a program of evidence-based prevention and wellbeing services.  You will believe in co-producing strengths-based services with the people who are using them and have an understanding of the wider risk factors and conditions that impact on people’s health and independence. Under the direction of senior team members, you will build relationships with providers, service users, unpaid carers and internal colleagues working across the Council. You will have excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills, the creative ability to provide innovative solutions, and will be extremely organised to ensure deadlines are met.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Educated to degree standard or equivalent by recent and relevant work experience. Please see the Job Description for the full list of role requirements.

Interview Date: Thursday 31st October 2024 - Interviews will be held in person at Richmond Civic Centre. 

Test/Presentation: A 45-minute skills test will be included in the interview process.
