Community Safety Coordinator
The Role
Community Safety Coordinator required for Richmond and Wandsworth Councils. You will be responsible for a defined geographic area and for building strong relationships with statutory and voluntary sector organisations, communities and individuals to collectively address persistent and problematic crime and anti-social behaviour. To encourage and develop the involvement of the public through Online Watch Link (OWL) platform, Neighbourhoods Watch and business participation groups. Work to deliver priorities and actions in the Community Safety Plan.

Work to deliver priorities and actions in the Community Safety Plan.
The Community Safety Coordinator role is non-uniformed and predominantly non-enforcement. It is a strategic and partnership role which sits within the Community Safety Service and reports directly into the Community Safety Partnership Board. You will be required to occasionally make site visits, but the role will not be based predominately on site.
You will be required too:
- lead on the coordination of multi-agency problem solving which may result in joining key partners on site visits.
- Covering the locality of Tooting and be part of a team of 6 Community Safety Coordinators across Richmond and Wandsworth. You may be asked to support these other areas based on the demands of the service.
- You will be responsible for leading on key crime prevention work in line with the local community safety plans for Richmond and Wandsworth.
- Ability to produce timely briefings/reports on key initiatives and their outcomes.
Ideal candidate will have:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal and an ability to respond appropriately to the audience.
- An understanding of multi-agency problem solving is essential along with knowledge of how key agencies work to make communities safer.
- Knowledge of Safeguarding, Council processes as well as key legislation is fundamental to the role. In particular you must have a working knowledge of the ASB, Police and Crime Act 2014.
- Effective investigative skills and problem-solving skills. Where required the ability to understand and learn policy and procedures around community safety.
- Knowledge of the ECINS platform is desirable but not essential.
You will report directly to the Community Safety Team Manager.
