Community Safety Officer

The Role

You will be responsible for a defined geographic area and for building strong relationships with statutory and voluntary sector organisations, communities and individuals to collectively address persistent and problematic crime and anti-social behaviour. To encourage and develop the involvement of the public through Neighbourhood Watch and business participation groups. Work to deliver priorities and actions in the Community Safety Plan.

 

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal and an ability to respond appropriately to the audience. An understanding of multi-agency problem solving is essential along with knowledge of how key agencies work to make communities safer.

 

You will be responsible for leading on key crime prevention work in line with the local community safety plans for Richmond and Wandsworth.

 

Knowledge of Safeguarding, Council processes as well as key legislation is fundamental to the role. In particular you must have a working knowledge of the ASB, Police and Crime Act 2014.

 

You will need to have effective investigative skills and the ability to produce timely briefings/reports on key initiatives and their outcomes.

 

You will report directly to the Community safety Manager.
