Objective of role  

Support the delivery of key contracts, projects and services within culture and leisure across two dynamic London boroughs.

As Contracts & Projects Officer, this role will be at the heart of a dynamic Leisure and Contracts team and you will support the effective management of high-value leisure contracts and lead on project coordination. You will help ensure that commissioned services, partnerships or capital projects are delivered on time, within budget and align with our objectives to positive outcomes for residents. 

This isn’t just about contract management - it’s about building partnerships, identifying opportunities and delivering value for our communities, in line with the strategic direction of this high-profile service. 

About the role 

The specific duties and responsibilities for this role are: 

  • Monitor and manage contracts across leisure services, ensuring compliance
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting systems for contract performance 
  • Support the planning and delivery of capital and service improvement projects within leisure
  • Supporting the collection, analysis and reporting of service data
  • Line management of the Contracts & Projects Apprentice
  • Build and maintain effective relationships 
  • Prepare reports, briefings and presentations for senior management and elected members
  • Respond to enquiries and feedback from stakeholders and service users  
  • Supporting the Service Manager with the procurement and purchasing of any goods and services
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of web pages and other information sources
  • Develop funding bids, undertake research, and identify trends/opportunities for service initiatives

About you

  • A confident communicator – both in writing and face-to-face 
  • A strong team player with a collaborative approach
  • Someone with excellent IT skills who can research, analyse and present information 
  • A proactive individual who enjoys variety and can provide high-quality support to senior managers 
  • Someone who can build positive relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Passion for culture, leisure and public services – and the role they play in community wellbeing and equity 

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Project Management: knowledge of managing small projects and project management skills/techniques
  • Contract Management: reasonable experience of contract management 
  • Strong communication able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Interpersonal skills: ability to establish and build effective relationships with partner organisations
  • Technical and analytical skills: proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and capable of producing and presenting statistical reports for management 
  • Time Management: ability to plan and prioritise work effectively and meet deadlines
