Job Title: Control Officer/Responder
 Salary Range- £32,955 - £39,933 plus shift and weekend allowance
 Permanent - Full Time (36 hours)
 Location: Joint Control Centre – Wandsworth Town Hall complex

Other essential information - This role includes work in the evenings, Nights and at weekends.

Objective of role  

To work as part of a team in a 24-hour emergency control room covering the Boroughs of Richmond and Wandsworth. To be responsible for receiving and processing calls from the public, contractors, outside agencies and partners. To monitor two-way radio, CCTV, personal alarm systems and to respond in line with codes of conduct. 

You will work closely with the Police to provide access to evidence materials from the CCTV systems to the Police and other authorised agencies, including providing evidence statements to the Police.

As a Control Responder you will also regularly visit vulnerable clients to manage emergency incidents, administering First-aid or call the emergency services as appropriate.

About the role 

We are looking for a special individual who can work calmly and methodically during emergency incidents. This role falls within the Housing and Regeneration department but works closely with all Council departments to provide a 24/7 service.

This position provides an emergency response both in person and on the telephone or through Telecare alarm monitoring equipment. Control Responders may have the Council’s most varied role, assisting clients in their homes and providing a service to stakeholders such as the Police with CCTV enquiries.

The role is in the Council’s state of the art Joint Control Centre in Wandsworth Town Hall.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • To be personable, sympathetic and to be able to deal confidently with clients who may be distressed.  
  • Good communication skills (verbal, written and face to face) able to write reports.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work without close supervision periods and to be able to make decisions independently   
  • Must be well organised and adaptable, responding to quickly changing priorities.
