Data Scientist

About us 

You will be joining the corporate Insight and Analytics Team that supports departments and projects across Richmond and Wandsworth Councils.

Teams vision is to serve the needs of residents and service users by providing quality and credible analytical intelligence and insight to enable innovation and high-quality service delivery.

We work flexibly as a team and currently come into the office 2 days every fortnight.  We offer 32 days of annual leave plus bank holidays. 

Your Role 

  • Using your skills in data cleaning, transformation, and analysis to support policy and program development, implementation and review.   
  • Work with wide range of council departments to support residents.  
  • Identify new data sources and tools that can facilitate the work of the Insight and Analytics team.
  • Help increase the organisations data maturity by leading on specific actions as part of our digital and data strategy. 

Ideal Candidate 

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. 
  • 1-2 years experience working as a data scientist or in a similar analytical role. 
  • Proficient in coding and querying (e.g. Python, R, SQL etc.) and eager to learn new techniques and tools.
  • Excellent data visualization skills using PowerBI or similar software.
  • Can communicate complex data insights clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences.
  • Excel at working with partners to understand business needs and requirements and negotiate data project specifications. 
  • Produce high quality work and attention to accuracy and meeting business needs.  
  • Able to work independently and in a team. 
  • Able to juggle various tasks and analytical requests at the same time.

Current Post

Current role is a fixed term maternity cover for 12 months.

Complete remote working is not available for this role, the person will need to come into the office a few days a month.
