Objective of role
As Data and Finance Analyst, you will play a vital role in supporting data-driven energy planning, financial management, and strategic decision-making. You will integrate financial and energy data to provide insights that enhance cost efficiency, resource allocation, and long-term sustainability goals. Your work will directly support the Councils’ drive for operational excellence, fiscal responsibility, and delivery of sustainable energy initiatives.
This role will play a critical part of delivery of the Councils’ climate change targets. You will assist with the delivery of actions and objectives set out in the Richmond Climate Emergency Strategy and the Wandsworth Environment Strategy to support the creation and promotion of sustainability activities and tools aimed at transforming operations within the Councils to achieve real sustainability change.
About the role
We are seeking a Data and Finance Analyst who enjoys working with data and systems, has a keen eye for detail, and is passionate about driving process improvements. You will need strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with energy suppliers and other stakeholders.
In this role, you will:
- Collect, manage, and analyse large volumes of energy and financial data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with organisational standards.
- Develop and maintain financial models, forecasting tools, and budget monitoring systems to support resource planning.
- Monitor and report on energy and financial performance, identifying opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and investment.
- Produce clear and insightful reports, dashboards, and presentations to support senior decision-making.
- Apply statistical modelling and forecasting to predict usage patterns, budget requirements, and long-term investment needs.
- Lead on the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress against financial and sustainability objectives.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and finance, to ensure integrated reporting and planning.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, industry best practice, and regulatory requirements to continuously improve data and financial management approaches.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
You will need to demonstrate:
- A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment to tight deadlines.
- Proven ability to collect, organise, and analyse large data sets and apply statistical methods to support decision-making.
- Experience of working in a finance, accounting, or administrative role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including use of advanced formulas.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing tasks.
- Ability to interpret data and present findings clearly to a range of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of building design and energy use metrics.
