Objective of role
Your role will be reporting to the corporate centre with responsibility for overseeing both routine and more complex finance functions. This will include providing scrutiny and challenge and technical financial support to the Adult Social Care and Public Health Division and the Children’s Services Division.
About the role
You will assist the Financial Controller in maintaining the financial stability of both of our organisations for the future, supporting strategic projects, providing management information, and monitoring and setting revenue and capital budgets to meet the key priorities of both Councils.
You will develop effective and efficient financial and administrative systems to ensure that the service department can fulfil its financial responsibilities and providing a professional and effective financial administration and support service towards ensuring that adults and children in our community obtain an excellent service.
No two days in finance are the same, you’ll be joining a supportive integrated team that offers the opportunity to develop and learn new skills as different challenges present themselves.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
CCAB qualified or have relevant experience in an accounting role in local government.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of services provided.
Experience of providing advice to secure effective delivery and value for money across the entire organisation and communicate complex financial issues to all levels of the organisation.
Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks to deliver on service goals and ambitions is a must
Proficient IT skills to use spreadsheets, financial systems and other relevant packages for analysis and presentation
