Deputy Head Teacher: Permanent / Full Time - Honeywell Infant School

The Role

Required from September 2021

Honeywell Infant School is a three-form entry Infant School with a large nursery close to Wandsworth Common.  We are a popular oversubscribed school serving a happy, vibrant local community.  We offer a creative curriculum using teaching techniques that draw on the best of Early Year’s practice, with high expectations of teaching, learning and achievement.  We share the site with Honeywell Junior School, with which we have strong links.

Following the promotion of our Deputy Headteacher to headship, we are seeking to appoint an inspirational and committed leader to work in partnership with the head and senior leadership team, to build on our successes and to continue to drive the school forward in future development and growth. The position is a great opportunity for a leader who wants to further their career within an excellent school with a strong and innovative Senior Leadership Team.

What we are looking for:

  • Pedagogy. A passion for understanding methods of teaching young children and the process of learning. Someone who is prepared to research developments made in understanding pedagogy in order to keep Honeywell at the forefront of new approaches in education. 
  • Improvement. Someone who wants to learn more and enjoys teaching adults as well as children.
  • Lead and manage change. Someone who can inspire others with creative approaches to teaching and learning. Someone who has the experience of leading a core subject or areas that will inspire others.
  • An outstanding teacher. Experience of high-quality classroom practice including the planning and delivery of impactful lessons.
  • Assessment and data analysis. An understanding of effective formative assessment that pushes learning forward, as well as an excellent understanding of tracking pupil progress and using data effectively to inform provision.
  • A skillful communicator. The ability to lead with sensitivity and communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including pupils, parents, the wider community.
  • Strong organisational skills. Be able to develop systems, including the use of IT to support the smooth running of the school.
  • Safeguarding. Experience of effective safeguarding and promoting wellbeing of all children.
