Design and Tech Quarter Manager

The Role

The Economic Development Office in Richmond and Wandsworth Council is currently recruiting for a Design and Tech Quarter Manager focused on sectors and innovation.     

The Role

The primary purpose of this position is to develop targeted business growth initiatives in Wandsworth to support sector/cluster initiatives and business innovation, working with key partners such as Universities.  A key focus of the role is to oversee the development of the Battersea Design and Technology Quarter initiative  and be the Wandsworth lead officer for the Stride Partnership.

The Design and Tech Quarter Manager will take forward the development of the Battersea Design and Technology Quarter proposition with local and sector stakeholders and develop the Partnership Board to take this forward as well as working with Council teams to deliver a three-year  action plan to include  the development of new workspace, public realm, and associated infrastructure improvements.   

The post holder will also work closely with partners and delivery bodies to identify and develop services and products that can be made available to growth orientated businesses in the borough and work with other EDO teams and staff to develop sector- based strategies, plans and activities in priority sectors. 

About you

You will be an ambitious self-starter, ready to take on the challenge of joining a successful Enterprise and Business Growth team.  The ideal candidate will have knowledge of innovation and high growth support services for early stage and growing businesses; a knowledge of place-based sector and cluster growth development and the innovation district concept.  You will also need experience of developing partnerships and projects involving business, universities, and public sector organisations; of working with small businesses and entrepreneurs; and developing project or place-based brands, concepts, and strategies for their execution.
