Director of Public Health

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

The Role

Shape public health for over half a million Londoners

This is an influential, visible role for public health across the London Boroughs of Richmond and Wandsworth.

You will be an outstanding DPH who recognises the diversity and uniqueness of our two boroughs, and who is open to continuous learning and development, supporting our Public Health Team to deliver great population health and reduced health inequalities.

You will be a collaborative corporate team player reporting to the Director of Adult Social Care and Public Health and with regular access to the Chief Executive.

You’ll need to be a hugely credible public health professional who’s on the GMC Specialist Register, GDC Specialist List or the Voluntary Register for Public Health Specialists.

You will have a clear vision, inspiring leadership skills, an empowering management style, political astuteness, decisiveness and resilience.

You will be at the forefront of addressing health inequalities and driving forward important public health programmes to achieve lasting results for over half a million residents.

As our statutory chief officer, you’ll be a principal adviser on health matters. But just as importantly, you’ll be part of a unique organisation that delivers better health outcomes for the communities it serves. This demanding, varied and interesting role requires a person experienced in leading the agenda to improve the health and wellbeing of residents, reducing inequalities in health outcomes and protecting local communities from public health hazards.
