Duty Social Worker
The Role
Richmond and Wandsworth Adult Social Care & Public Health Department has strong social work values and a focus on improving outcomes to vulnerable adults and their carers.
We are looking for experienced, qualified, post AYSE Social Workers to join our Wandsworth East Locality team.
The team consists of 1 Locality Manager, 3 Assistant Locality Managers, Senior Social Workers, Social Workers, and Social Care Assessors who provide a holistic, personalised, strength-based service to residents over the age of 18 who have physical disabilities and older people with physical and mental health disabilities.
This role centres around being part of the permanent duty system.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Taking duty calls, signposting, and providing preventive support to residents and their carers to help manage risks and maintain wellbeing and prevent harm
- Working autonomously, acting safely, and ensuring accountable professional practice. Making decisions, and escalating issues for management attention as appropriate.
- Working in a strengths-based, person-centred approach to promote the rights and wellbeing of service users and carers.
- Ensuring professional curiosity, principles and values of honesty, openness, dignity, respect, and diversity in practice
- Completing visits and undertaking assessments of individuals and carers to encourage independence, provide support and prevent harm.
- Assisting with safeguarding enquiries.
Candidates must have post qualification experience along with a good knowledge of relevant legislation and local authority responsibilities in the safeguarding of vulnerable adults. You must have good communication, decision-making and time management skills.
