Are you interested in transitioning over to work with pupil who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour?  Could you contribute towards the mainstream re-integration of pupils? Are you a dedicated, kind hearted and enthusiastic Primary teacher who can inspire, support and challenge pupils to achieve their full potential? Victoria Drive PRU has a secondment opportunity for the right individual. 

Victoria Drive is an,” Outstanding” and inspiring Primary Pupil Referral Unit that prides itself on the highly effective working partnership with Wandsworth Primary Schools .It uses  a therapeutic, nurturing approach to support pupils who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMHD). The core objective of the work is to sustain very low levels of exclusion by promoting the inclusion of pupils and strengthening schools’ capacity to respond to pupils’ needs. 

We wish to offer a secondment to an experienced primary teacher, with an outstanding record of managing children with challenging behaviour. The pupils’ interests, the National Curriculum and the Boxall Profile, will inform the learning you plan and deliver. We actively promote a holistic and trauma informed approach to support our pupils obtain meaningful outcomes, raise achievement levels and improve self-esteem. You will have a high degree of emotional intelligence where the proactive support offered to parents allows the development of trusting relationships and non- judgemental, reflective conversations. A strong admin background and knowledge of the SEND process of Assess, Plan, Do and Review is desirable, as contributing to referrals, assessments and reporting on progress features strongly in this role.

The successful candidate will need a high level of resilience and a commitment to working as a team to support vulnerable children. There will also be opportunities to work peripatetically to support pupils in their mainstream schools.
