External Funding Officer

About Us

Do you have experience in seeking out and supporting bidding for new funding opportunities? Richmond and Wandsworth Councils are ambitious local authorities serving 500,000 residents across South-West London, aiming to maximise available external funding for the benefit of the boroughs and residents. This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your research skills, build relationships and impart bidding knowledge to secure more money for a range of worthwhile causes and projects across Richmond and Wandsworth. About the role 

Finding opportunities: you will seek out external funding opportunities for services to bid for from a wide range of sources, including central government; regional government; third sector and NGO funding programmes. 

Making connections: you will develop and sustain effective relationships with a broad range of services internally, and with external partners, linking people together for the benefit of maximising funding opportunities.

Training and guidance: you will create and enhance institutional knowledge on external funding, by facilitating training and guidance on bid writing for services and developing practical advice to assist colleagues in making successful applications. 

Data and evidence: you will develop and maintain evidence-based needs information to support the development of successful bids, with the support of policy and data analytics colleagues. 

Monitoring and tracking: you will monitor external funding bids that are being developed across the council(s), and whether or not they are successful.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience 

  • Knowledge of major UK, regional and NGO funding programmes and emerging funding initiatives.
  • Experience in supporting the writing of bids for external funding.
  • Effective communication skills, able to share information relating to funding clearly and concisely to a range of stakeholders.
  • Capable of researching, analysing and summarising key data about projects for a range of service areas.

Able to work accurately, to tight deadlines and with minimal supervision.
