Family Assessment Worker (Falcon Grove Family Assessment Centre)

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

The Role

Falcon Grove provides services to children in need and at risk of harm. We undertake residential and community-based parenting assessments and interventions. We work closely with our social work colleagues in the borough’s Children in Need, Referral & Assessment, and Hospital teams, as well as linking with local targeted and universal services. Much of our work is done pre-proceedings or as part of the local authority’s evidence to court. We also undertake assessments with families from other London Authorities who commission assessments with us.

You will be able to contribute to high quality assessments and should have first rate report writing skills. You will need to demonstrate ability to work in partnership with socially excluded families, a proactive and energetic approach and a commitment to bringing about best outcomes for children. You will carry out work in the centre and in families’ own homes.

You would be under the supervision of qualified social workers. You will need a relevant qualification such as NVQ; NNEB; Early Years Foundation; psychology/sociology degree; parenting programme / teaching certificate. You will need recent experience of work with children and families in a paid position, including responsibility for specific allocated tasks and/or service users.

Residential assessments are the core work, so you will need to be able to work to a varied rota which includes 8am starts and 10pm finishes, some weekend shifts, and occasional bank holidays and overnight sleep-in shifts.

For an informal discussion about these vacancies please contact Daniel De Jager (Acting Centre Manager) or Odette Milsome (Principal Social Worker) on 0207 228 0836.
