Our Goals and vision:

Early Help Newpin model provides a range of interventions and support for children under 5 and their parents who are experiencing mental health problems and where Adverse Childhood Experiences are often a generational feature. Our aim is to ensure both the child and their adults get the support they need to thrive and achieve their potential. Our model harnesses the parent-child relationship, providing a

structured, supportive environment to increase parents’ capacity to develop understanding of their child’s communication, emotions, behaviour and needs and to reflect on the impact of their own mental health on their child/ren’s wellbeing.

 

About the team:

The borough's Early Help Offer is delivered through three THRIVE Wandsworth clusters. Newpin delivers support across all three clusters working in children centres as well as our main office located in Roehampton. Our team includes a range of professionals which includes family support workers and early years playroom practitioners working together to deliver targeted interventions to families on their mental health, parenting skills and their children’s wellbeing and development.

 

About the role:

This role will deliver the service’s provision in family support, targeted interventions, access to mental health services and wellbeing courses, facilitating parenting groups and classes, crèche, and outreach support, this can include working with families in their home and in the community.

 

You will provide support to families referred to the service in carrying out key actions to support the understanding of parent’s mental health and children’s wellbeing and development.

 

As a Family Support Worker, you will take the lead in delivering and developing the service which includes direct work with parents and children, community engagement events and facilitating group work. Working across all sites within the borough of Wandsworth you will be expected to travel within the borough and manage your schedule independently. 

 

You will have experience in managing safeguarding risk and providing interventions to families with complex needs (ideally which maximise the development of the parent-child relationship) and promote positive outcomes for children.

 

You will be expected to travel between sites based in Wandsworth (this does include ome visits).
