Family Support Worker

About Us

Are you someone passionate about supporting families who have a child with disabilities? Join our team!

Join our dedicated Family Support Team in Wandsworth, providing information, advice and support to families caring for children aged 0-19 with disabilities, additional needs, and complex health conditions. You will empower and inform parents through innovative workshops and training events, building a supportive community that embraces diversity and inclusion across many different communities living in Wandsworth. This is a chance to make a profound difference and be part of a team that advocates for families with SEND in various forums to create lasting change.

You will:

  • Provide an advice, information, and support service to families in Wandsworth who have a disabled child/young person (aged 0 – 19).
  • Link these families together through support groups and activities, providing information and support to families.
  • Work closely with Children’s Services and other statutory and voluntary services to provide coordinated and improved service to families.
  • Work closely with other services providing support to Wandsworth families and with members of wider BWW Mind staff team.
  • Work with people across different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary.

You are:

  • Able to demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the unique challenges associated with LD for children, young people, and their families.
  • Equipped with knowledge and understanding of issues relating to safeguarding Children and Young People.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in the issues and concerns that affect families who have disabled children e.g., DLA, benefits, leisure provision, education, respite care.
  • Able to be flexible and creative in facilitating engagement with children and young people with SEND and their families.
