Graduate Programme -Project Officer

The Role

We are looking for talented individuals who have recently graduated to join our Graduate Development Programme working jointly for two high performing London councils.

You will be innovative, adaptable and enthusiastic with an interest in Local Government.  You will quickly take on responsibility for projects that will make a real contribution towards the impact and efficiency of public services including contributing to our work supporting the recovery of our communities and businesses from the impacts of Covid-19

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across our four different directorates over two councils with different political outlooks and priorities This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is interested in starting their career in local government but isn’t quite sure which area is for them!

We offer an innovative, bespoke training programme which will be tailored to meet the needs of the organisation and you as an individual. Throughout the programme you will have a mentor and a graduate buddy.  There will also be opportunities to shadow directors and managers, to attend meetings with local councillors to understand the political context and to participate in London wide and national events.

We are offering a starting of £25,295 per annum and 31 days’ annual leave. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to proceed to higher salary grade in their second year (subject to meeting the requirements).  Further benefits include eligibility to join the Local Government Pension Scheme and local staff discounts on products and services such as fitness membership, healthcare membership and restaurants.

Candidates will be asked to submit a CV and a supporting statement answering the key questions.

Indicative timetable is as follows:

Closing date: 15th July 2020

Psychometric Tests Completed: 7th to 14th August 2020

Assessment days: 8th & 9th September 2020

Start date: 21st October 2020
