The Role

HEAD OF REGENERATION (ACQUISITIONS)

Wandsworth has an ambitious regeneration programme and is delivering two large scale regeneration schemes. One scheme covers part of the iconic Alton Estate in Roehampton, and involves the development of around 1,100 new homes, including new Council homes, and the creation of a new community, retail and business space. The other scheme covers the Winstanley-York Road estates in Battersea which will deliver around 2,500 new home, including replacement Council homes, a new leisure centre, community facilities and a new park.

We have partners for both schemes, masterplans are agreed and planning permission for both masterplans has been applied for with decisions expected this year.

Regeneration of this scale inevitably requires the acquisition of a significant amount of property and the use of compulsory purchase powers and this is a new senior management role created to lead on this important area of work.

You will work closely with other members of the regeneration team and the Council's development partners to deliver an acquisitions and CPO strategy.

Wandsworth Council is committed to an ambitious programme of new council house building and has allocated substantial funds to delivering this over the next ten years. The estate regeneration projects forms the major element of this programme.

You will be part of a small team of motivated, pro-active people who are committed to working effectively with local people and in delivering real change and high-quality new neighbourhoods.

You will need to have experience and knowledge of the regeneration and compulsory purchase and a track record of involvement in supporting the successful delivery of complex, large scale estate regeneration or urban mixed use development. You will need to be an experienced manager who is prepared to lead and work at a senior level and on your own initiative.

In return, we can offer you working arrangements that will enhance your work-life balance.  These include home working (dependent on service need) and a generous holiday allowance of 31 days plus bank holidays.

In addition, we offer a range of staff benefits such as membership of the Local Government contributory pension scheme, childcare vouchers, new technology scheme, interest-free loans on annual travel cards, discounts at many leisure activities, restaurants, shops and other establishments. A wide range of developmental opportunities are also offered.

For an informal conversation about the role please call Andy Algar, Assistant Director, Regeneration on 02088716075.
