The Role

Job Title – Housing Policy and Performance Support Officer

Salary Range - £36,426 to £44,139 per annum

Permanent – Fulltime 

Location- - Wandsworth

Working as part of the Housing Policy and Performance Team your focus will be to collect, analysis and present of a broad range data from multiple sources to help inform policy positions and shape service design.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated housing policy and performance team that serves two local authorities, each with different responsibilities. The Housing Department is responsible for housing advice and homelessness, housing management of our 33,000 council properties, including dealing with anti-social behaviour, building safety and tenancy matters.  

You must a dynamic individual with a passion for performance and data analytics and insight. You must be enthusiastic about using data from a variety of sources to help improve outcomes for local people.

You must have an eye for detail, you can also analyse complex datasets and are able to represent these in a way that is accessible to a range of stakeholders including residents, senior managers, and councillors. You will be able to highlight trends and identify areas where things can be improved by sharing accurate and insightful data.

With exceptional interpersonal skills you will work with colleagues including senior managers to collate data and help tell the story of our housing journey. This will include preparing quarterly key performance indicators and supporting our work to prepare statutory information to the government.

You will provide residents with the best possible information about the delivery of housing services. You will lead on the work to prepare quarterly performance reports to our Area Housing Panels and Co-op Forums, ensuring that residents have accurate information that helps them effectively scrutinise the Council. You will also lead on responding to Freedom of Information requests made to the service.

Your ability to conduct detailed research will enable you to support your colleagues in the Policy and Performance Team and inform housing policy and service design. There will be opportunities to work with partners and stakeholders inside and outside of the Council including residents’ groups and housing associations.

You will have a passion for housing and a good understanding of national, regional and local challenges.

The role is based within the Shared Staffing Arrangement and will involve working with two councils, both with a different responsibility to tenants and leaseholders but ultimately, with the same ambition, that they receive the best housing service whether that is from the Council itself or by Housing Associations.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Experience of performance management frameworks, data insight and data analytics
  • Proven ability to work with multiple, complex datasets from different sources
  • Understanding of housing policy and the key issues within the sector
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and with minimal supervision
  • Strong numerical, written and analytical roles as well as sound IT abilities
