We are constantly building and growing our provision and an opportunity to join our highly motivated and skilled team as a Teaching Assistant and/or Residential Careworker has become available to support a student who is deafblind. This is an opportunity for someone who is passionate about transforming young peoples’ lives, promoting independence and has a desire to develop their career in a Special School setting. You'll be working in a small team of colleagues committed to providing high quality support and education.

This is an exciting time to join the school. In our recent OFSTED of the residential department, Leadership and Management was judged “outstanding” (January 2019) where “leaders’ expert knowledge and steadfast commitment to children have inspired them to continue their own professional journeys”. We have an impressive three acre campus in Wimbledon offering fabulous indoor and outdoor innovative facilities to support teaching and learning.

Whether as a Teaching Assistant, Intervenor or Residential Careworker, you'll be supporting a young person who is deafblind with additional medical and behavioural needs. You will play a key role in enabling this young person to achieve their learning potential and develop confidence and a sense of security with their daily routines.

You will need to be able to keep calm, understand professional boundaries, be a great team player and flexible in your approach. Above all the qualities of compassion, kindness and positive thinking are key. You will be working with another worker and will be well supported by the wider team.

A knowledge of Sign Language is essential, a qualification as an Intervenor is desirable. Previous experience of working with pupils with complex needs and experience of TeamTeach would also be an advantage.
We can offer you:

• Personalised induction programme
• The opportunity to undertake recognised qualifications such as an Accredited Intervenor
• Qualification
• A positive and supportive team within Richley House
