Are you passionate about improving the welfare of young people facing challenging circumstances?

We are looking to appoint a highly organised, confident and flexible Learning Mentor to take responsibility for key aspects to support the work of the Westdean and Pathways Site of Francis Barber Pupil Referral Unit in central Wandsworth.

Main duties will include: Deputising for the Pathways Coordinator, organising and overseeing the catering and food preparation for the site and leading keyworking within Pathways. The position will also involve some administrative responsibilities including purchasing and processing of consumables.  The successful applicant may also be asked to accompany staff and small groups of students on off-site activities.  Attendance at meetings and other pupil support duties will form significant parts of the role.

Francis Barber works with groups of pupils who have found it challenging in mainstream schools or who have complex special needs. There is a large and experienced staff team working together to maximise pupil progress and achievement. Francis Barber is a great place to work with a very friendly staff team and a fantastic offer of CPD.  We have great transport links and are close to shops.  The school supports the wellbeing of staff and pupils.

We were inspected by OFSTED in December 2017 and received a Good report. Behaviour and Safety were identified as outstanding features of the school. Westdean is a friendly place to work and there are a variety of lessons and activities taking place. These along with good keyworking help young people make changes which enable them to be successful in their education. Please contact Ms Addie McEwan amcewan4.212@lgflmail.org for an informal chat.

If you enjoy working with young people, have initiative and are a good team player we would welcome your application. Ideally the person appointed will already have DBS clearance.
