Our Learning Resources Service (LRS) is looking for an experienced Librarian to join our amazing team in Wandsworth and help provide schools and teachers with the resources they need to enable them to give children, in the borough, the best possible education!
This post is offered as a job share (12 hours per week) and the core working hours are likely to be: 09:00am-16:00pm, two days per week with some flexibility. As this is a job share post there may be an opportunity to work additional hours during peak periods.
About the service
The LRS is a busy school library service. The service supports the teaching of pupils by providing an array of resources from story props to guided reading materials for subscribing primary schools.
About the role
You will be involved in the full range of activities in the library. Assisting with the day-to-day operation of the LRS; contributing to the effective delivery of the resources to schools compiled according to the National Curriculum; and teachers’ requests.
You will report to the Senior Learning Resources Librarian on a day-to-day basis, and you will be responsible and contribute to a range of physical tasks within the library including general issue, returns, shelving of library resources and keeping the library stock in good order.
About you
Experience of working in libraries or with collections of written material is required, alongside knowledge of the national curriculum. Formal qualifications are not essential, although a relevant qualification would be advantageous as would an interest in children’s literature.
You should have good IT skills and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The role requires initiative and the ability for you to work both independently and as part of a team.
