Wandsworth Council has a reputation for providing high quality services to our leaseholders and tenants. You will be based in Wandsworth in the heart of London and will be responsible for the provision of safe, reliable and efficient lift services to borough's residents.

 

Duties include:

 

  • liaison & monitoring of contractors to ensure their prompt attendance to breakdowns,
  • ensuring repair works are completed according to an agreed programme
  • maintenance visits and statutory inspections are conducted as specified.

 

This role will involve use of the Lift Monitoring System, carrying out inspections and the production of reports and specifications. You will also be required to carry out the role of Clerk of Works for several major lift refurbishment contracts therefore knowledge of lift refurbishment contract procedures would be a distinct advantage.

 

You will have a minimum qualification of NVQ level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent and have a thorough knowledge of current lift, CDM, and Health and Safety regulations applicable to lift installations. Experience is needed in the installation, maintenance and repair of lifts designed for Local Authority use. You will need to be able to convey complex technical issues to colleagues and residents using non-technical language and possess a working knowledge of IT systems.

 

In the event of emergencies, you must be prepared to work outside of normal hours. For candidates seeking to gain further professional qualifications the Council offers a variety of training courses and other development opportunities.
