Lift Manager

The Role

Working as the manager of a small professional lift team you are responsible for the provision of a safe, reliable and efficient lift service to the borough’s residents.

Duties include:

  • managing a senior lift engineer and two lift engineers
  • liaison with and monitoring of contractors to ensure their prompt attendance to breakdowns and ensuring effective repair works are completed according to agreed schedules.
  • managing maintenance visits, statutory inspections and carrying out an extensive analysis of lift breakdowns utilising the departments Lift Monitoring System.

 

You will be responsible for lift installation and refurbishment works and have experience of managing budgets and contractor payments. You will be responsible for the preparation of specifications for the tendering of capital works and the assessment of tender bids.

You will manage major lift refurbishment contracts, so knowledge of lift refurbishment contract procedures is essential.

Management experience is essential, and a management qualification would be desirable.

You will have a minimum qualification of NVQ level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent and a thorough knowledge of current lift, CDM, and Health and Safety regulations apply to lift installations. Demonstrate experience with refurbishment projects, maintenance and repair of lifts designed for Local Authority use will be required. You will need to be able to convey complex technical issues to colleagues and residents using non-technical language. You will also need to possess a working knowledge of IT systems.

In the event of emergencies, you must be prepared to work outside of normal hours. For candidates seeking to gain further professional qualifications, the Council offers a variety of training courses and other development opportunities.
