Manager (Literacy and Numeracy Support Service)

Following the retirement of the existing post holder we are seeking to recruit a Manager for the L&NSS to continue the outstanding and highly regarded work of the service which provides both traded support to schools alongside centrally funded project work to support the inclusion of children with numeracy and literacy difficulties. 

Please note this is a part time 0.8 / 4 days per week role.

We are seeking a dedicated and inspirational professional with the following knowledge, skills and experience: 

  • A thorough knowledge of current theory and practice relating to literacy and/or numeracy development and difficulties
  • Experience of supporting teachers, SENCos and senior leaders in schools and of collaborative working with a range of agencies to improve progress and outcomes for pupils with literacy and/or numeracy difficulties.
  • The ability to manage and maintain a consistently high-quality delivery in a peripatetic service

The LNSS (or wider team) actively promotes and supports the continuing professional development through a budget for external professional training roughly equivalent to 5 hours SASC-accredited training through national training bodies for team personal professional interests related to their work in addition to the training provided to all team members through INSET. Membership of a professional SpLD body and the cost of renewing an SpLD APC every three years is also included in this package. Team members also receive a small personal budget to spend on resources to personalise support for individual students, alongside the wide range of resources including books and other teaching resources, SASC-approved assessment tools and record forms.
