Nine Elms Marketing and Communications Officer

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

The Role

Are you excited by regeneration, cultural placemaking and telling the story of a new London neighbourhood?

Wandsworth Council is looking for an experienced communications and marketing professional to strengthen the reputation of Nine Elms as London’s newest and most exciting district.

The Nine Elms regeneration area, which stretches from Battersea Power Station to Albert Embankment in Lambeth, is impressive in scale, investment and vision. Together with up to 20,000 new homes, over 6.5m sq ft of commercial space is being created which will support the employment of 25,000 people.

To achieve the Council’s vision of a vibrant and successful place which is connected to the surrounding communities and wider London, we are investing in an ambitious programme of infrastructure, including a new school, health centre, community facilities, transport, urban realm and culture projects. As we approach the opening of the Northern Line Extension in Autumn 2021, the pace of change will be accelerating.

As a Communications and Marketing Officer working with the Communications and Nine Elms teams, you'll be responsible for first-class communications, marketing campaigns and stakeholder and community engagement. In doing so you will be working with our major partners, including Lambeth Council, TfL, Battersea Power Station Development Company, New Covent Garden Market and other major developers.

You'll come with a track record of providing excellent communications support and partnership working, operating successfully in a large organisation and with a range of external organisations to achieve your communications goals.

You will have a broad mix of communications experience which ideally includes experience of working on regeneration schemes and cultural projects along with extensive knowledge of marketing, campaigns, reputation management and social media. Experience of working in local government communications is preferable, but not essential.

In return, we can offer you working arrangements that will enhance your work-life balance.  These include flexible working, home working (dependent on service need), and a generous holiday allowance of 31 days plus bank holidays.

In addition, we offer a range of staff benefits such as membership of the Local Government contributory pension scheme, childcare vouchers, new technology scheme, cycle to work scheme interest-free loans on annual travel cards, discounts at many leisure activities and venues. A wide range of developmental opportunities is also offered
