Nine Elms Strategic Projects Manager
The Role
This is a Fixed Term Appointment until 31st March 2022
Nine Elms is an area undergoing rapid change; development in the area is creating a whole new part of central London, with people already living in 1000s of new homes and over 6.5million square feet of commercial space being created which will support the employment of 25,000 people. The rate of change will only accelerate as the area prepares for the opening of the Northern Line Extension in Autumn 2021.
To achieve the Council’s vision of a vibrant and successful ‘place’ connected to the surrounding communities and wider London, we are investing in an ambitious programme of infrastructure, including a new school, health centre, community facilities, transport, urban realm and culture projects. As a key member of the Nine Elms Delivery Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful development and delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects which benefit the Borough’s residents and businesses and connect the area to wider London.
The right candidate will be passionate about the crucial role timely and successful delivery of infrastructure plays in creating successful places and communities, and have experience of leading the development of a wide range of regeneration and/or infrastructure projects that form part of a large scale regeneration programme.
You will have excellent project management skills, ideally gained working on regeneration, infrastructure, public realm or transport projects; you’ll have the ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholders and be able to get to the heart of the matter when explaining complex technical situations.
You’ll be working on an internationally recognisable regeneration project and be part of a team that’s committed to making Nine Elms the best place that it can be. The Team works with colleagues from across the Council as well as multiple statutory agencies, external partners and consultants to deliver projects that directly contribute to the success of Nine Elms and ensures residents and Londoners benefit from the regeneration of the area, in line with the Council’s aim to be at the forefront in innovation in local government.
In return, we can offer you working arrangements that will enhance your work-life balance. These include home working (dependent on service need), and a generous holiday allowance of 31 days plus bank holidays.
In addition, we offer a range of staff benefits such as membership of the Local Government contributory pension scheme, childcare vouchers, new technology scheme, interest-free loans on annual travel cards, discounts at many leisure activities, restaurants, shops and other establishments. A wide range of developmental opportunities is also offered.
