Partnership and Engagement Officer - Climate Change
The Role
Are you passionate about Climate Change and can build relationships with residents, local organisations, and businesses so they can take effective action to combat climate change?
Both Richmond and Wandsworth councils declared a Climate Emergency in 2019 and have a clear commitment to engage and inform residents and businesses across the boroughs. You will join a team which has led some high-profile engagement events such as climate change summits and a programme of work with schools. You will build on these foundations to make an impact in the local community and work together to reduce emissions. You will work with officers from across the councils and build on existing partnerships, bringing an innovative approach to draw interest into your projects.
The engagement and partnership activity is based on the Wandsworth Environment and Sustainability Strategy and the Richmond Climate Emergency Strategy. You will need to be able to articulate key messages from these strategies, reaching out to wide audiences and encouraging involvement in reaching the Council’s climate change targets. This will involve administration around organising public events (both in person and online), seminars, and sharing communications, as well as evaluating the same. You will be a strong coordinator used to balancing multiple priorities, with skills in stakeholder engagement, event co-ordination and administration. You will be confident making arrangements in person, by phone and online. You will present to groups and attend events, sometimes in the evening or at weekends.
This is a two-year fixed term contract.
In return, we can offer you working arrangements that will enhance your work-life balance, and a generous holiday allowance of 31 days plus bank holidays
In addition, we offer a range of staff benefits such as membership of the Local Government contributory pension scheme, childcare vouchers, new technology scheme, interest-free loans on annual travel cards, discounts at many leisure activities, restaurants, shops and other establishments. A wide range of developmental opportunities is also offered.
