We are looking for an outstanding piano tutor and accompanist to take up a day of teaching (6.5 hours approx.) and occasional accompaniment work in this vibrant and successful music department. The role is primarily as a piano tutor, but there is the option of additional hours of accompaniment work on the for the right candidate. The piano department regularly has students achieve ABRSM Grade 8 distinctions and this role would be to teach students from Year 7 beginners to post-Grade 8. There is a music administrator who will deal with timetables and payment and there are 31 weeks of lessons scheduled throughout the academic year.

The current hourly rate of pay is £30.32 p/hr. Interested parties should complete the Graveney Trust application form and return by Noon on Thursday 27th January 2022. The successful candidate would be required to start from after the Easter Holidays, although we would also be interested in candidates that can start sooner in February.

Applicants will have:

  • A Music Degree or Diploma or relevant experience
  • Experience of teaching beginner instrumentalists to Grade 8 and beyond
  • Experience of preparing students for examinations
  • Experience of accompanying musicians for grade exams
  • Excellent sight-reading skills
  • Teaching qualification on instrument (preferred)
  • A desire to work as part of an enthusiastic team and be actively involved in the wider musical life of the school
