We are looking for an outstanding singing teacher to take up a short day of teaching (4 hours approx.) with room to expand in this vibrant and successful music department. The department believes firmly in the power of a musical education via singing and has a number of different choirs. We particularly welcome applicants who have interest and experience in jazz and non-classical musical styles, although the applicant may be required to teach in a number of different styles as appropriate. The applicant would be joining a team of twenty other peripatetic staff including two singing teachers that teach in a more classical idiom.
There is scope for the right applicant to also play a role leading vocal groups/ensembles depending upon experience. There is a music administrator who will deal with timetables and payment and there are 31 weeks of lessons scheduled throughout the academic year.
The current hourly rate of pay is £30.32 p/hr. Interested parties should complete
Applicants will have:
- A Music Degree / Diploma or relevant experience
- Experience of teaching beginner vocalists to Grade 8 standard and beyond
- Experience of preparing students for examinations
- The ability to accompany their students in lessons from the piano
- A good knowledge of vocal technique
- A desire to work as part of an enthusiastic team and be actively involved in the wider musical life of the school
