Peripatetic Music Instructor (Voice) - Graveney School

The Role

We are looking for an outstanding singing teacher to take up a day of teaching (6.5 hours approx.) in this vibrant and successful music department. The department believes firmly in the power of a musical education via singing and has 5 different choirs. We welcome applications from a range of musical backgrounds and are particularly interested with candidates that can enthuse students about a wide range of vocal music from classical to pop repertoire, teaching good technique across all disciplines. The department regularly has students achieve ABRSM Grade 8 distinctions and this role would be to teach students from Year 7 to Year 13. There is a music administrator who will deal with timetables and payment and there are 31 weeks of lessons scheduled throughout the academic year.

Applicants will have:

  • A Music Degree / Diploma or relevant experience
  • Experience of teaching beginner vocalists to Grade 8 and beyond
  • Experience of preparing students for ABRSM and equivalent examinations
  • The ability to accompany their students in lessons from the piano
  • A good knowledge of vocal technique and potentially a qualification
  • A desire to work as part of an enthusiastic team and be actively involved in the wider musical life of the school
