Do you have experience of working with Care Experienced young people and a passion to help others to be their very best?

Future First, the Leaving Care Service for Wandsworth Children’s Social Care support over 440 young people aged 16-25 who are in the care of Wandsworth Borough Council. As part of a dedicated, vibrant, and enthusiastic team of 36 professionals, your role will be to help young people build stable and successful independent lives.

Last year over 13% of young people supported by the service went to university – can you help more young people to achieve similar outcomes?

About the role 

Working with an allocated group of Care Experienced young people aged 16-25, you will be responsible for delivering a high quality and impactful support service under the Leaving Care Act 2000 and the Children and Social Work Act 2017. 

As a Personal Advisor, you will ensure that all domains of their Pathway Plan are progressing, and young people are benefitting from their positive relationship with you. Reporting to your Team Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that you are meeting performance targets weekly and that you are making a positive impact on young people’s lives. 

Your main base will be at our Hub building close to Clapham Junction station. This is hybrid role and you will embrace working in a flexible and young person focussed way. This includes working from home and out in the community. Teams are based at the office a minimum of 1 week per month as part of a duty rota.

To set you up for success, you will be provided with all the training you need to undertake your role as part of your induction.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Worked previously with Care Experienced young people.
  • Experience of working with young adults in challenging circumstances.
  • Great communication skills with an anti-discriminatory focussed approach.
  • Experience producing high quality assessments and reports.
  • An awareness of Trauma Informed practice and understanding of the key issues for Care Experienced young people.
