Primary Specialist Hospital and Home Tuition Teacher - Wandsworth Hospital and Home Tuition Service (HHTS) Medical PRU

The Role

Hours: 0.6 (Days to be agreed)

The Wandsworth Hospital and Home Tuition Service (HHTS) has an exciting opportunity for a Primary Specialist to join our creative, supportive and enthusiastic team!

The role will be based at The St George’s Hospital School, although there will be the opportunity to work across all of our sectors. They will also provide primary tuition to vulnerable learners too unwell to attend school; this takes place online or face to face within the home.

We are looking for an outstanding, innovative and compassionate teacher who is willing and able to engage vulnerable children, many of whom will have additional needs.

The teacher will be required to organise, deliver and evaluate learning for children, set suitable targets and liaise with home schools.  They will work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team and must be willing to work flexibly in a challenging yet rewarding environment.

The successful candidate will receive an induction to support their start in the role, ongoing supervision and further professional development throughout their time in post.

About the School

HHTS is a Medical Pupil Referral Unit that provides education for a diverse range of students aged 5-18 who are experiencing a severe or chronic illness and/or have mental health issues.

HHTS encompasses St. George’s Hospital, CAMHS School, Community Education, Mental

Health Outreach and Corner House; the National Deaf CAMHS inpatient unit. The role will be based at our St. George’s site, situated a short walking distance from Tooting Broadway Underground station, with excellent transport links.

Our students have the opportunity to make accelerated progress through personalised learning programmes delivered in small groups or in one-to-one tuition. Staff and students build positive nurturing relationships, which enable students to grow in confidence, self-acceptance and compassion for all.

The school was graded 'Outstanding' once again in the 2018/2019 inspection and is a UNICEF Rights Respecting School with a strong focus on excellence and wellbeing for students and staff.
