Job Title - Principal Auditor

Salary Range: £44,773 - £57,381 per annum

Permanent Full-time

Location – Wandsworth, London

Are you an experienced Internal Auditor looking to join a team that is recognised for the valuable contribution it makes to its partner organisations? If so, we would like you to apply for to the South West London Audit Partnership (SWLAP), one of the largest local authority shared audit services, in the UK.  

About your role 

This is a wide-ranging role that includes working with internal stakeholders across all partner Council departments and schools, to conduct audits, thematic reviews, advisory engagements and ad hoc assignments, providing independent appraisals on the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management, internal control and governance.

Who we are looking for

Local Authority experience is desirable for this role but is not essential. We are looking for you to demonstrate how your previous experience, skills and knowledge can bring value to the partnership.

Relationship building with colleagues across the Councils, including senior management and external stakeholders, is key and you will have the experience, confidence, and credibility to do this.

Experience of managing a workload and of dealing with conflicting and changing demands.

Ability to manage a small team of auditors and support the management team to prepare and deliver the audit plans.

An innate curiosity, keen attention to detail, excellent written and verbal skills.

Experience with Power BI would also be highly advantageous, as the function is currently rolling out a Data Analytics programme.

A strong audit background and possess or be working towards CCAB accountant, CMIIA or CIA / QIAL qualifications and can enthusiastically promote internal audit practices and the Global Internal Audit Standards.
